Conscientious Objection Seminar

On August 29, 2018, the University of Chile Law School Alessandri auditorium held the Conscientious Objection Seminar organized by Miles in conjunction with the Georgetown University O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law and the Center for Reproductive Rights.

The objective of this Seminar was to analyze conscientious objection in depth in the context of implementation of the law 21,030 Voluntary Termination of Pregnancy (IVE, in Spanish). The recommendations made by the international medical and legal communities on the adequate regulation for conscientious objection in countries like Argentina, Colombia y Uruguay were taken into account.

The seminar was aimed to health law attorneys guiding doctors on the content of the new abortion law, including the conscientious objection regulation; representatives from the General Accountability Office of the Republic; professors with experience in conscientious objection; non-objector doctors who perform legal abortions; students and politicians.
